Role Summary/Purpose:
The VP, Business Development Marketing will represent the marketing and growth organization in assigned platforms in all aspects of the business development process. Working collaboratively with the business development, finance, technology, credit, and growth organizations, this individual will develop and implement marketing strategies and tactics to achieve Synchrony new business growth metrics as well as win, renew, and launch new deals.

Essential Responsibilities:
Lead marketing efforts from Pre-Deal Assessment (PDA), RFP development, ideation, value proposition recommendations, and portfolio growth drivers for all assigned platforms' new prospects in the pipeline.
Cross-functionally lead the management presentation process, including development of demos, research, video production, PowerPoint presentations, and creative execution.
Develop and maintain strategic, on-point, off-the-shelf, and customizable RFP content and management presentation slides within the content library to support ongoing platform needs.
Collaborate closely with business development teams to finalize and tailor management presentations, ensuring alignment with prospect objectives and deal strategy.
Partner with client teams to renew and strategically grow existing partnerships.
Collaborate closely with platform CMOs and business development leaders; engage with senior stakeholders across Synchrony and prospect organizations.
Develop comprehensive marketing plans from the ground up for each prospect, detailing projected growth metrics (including new accounts and spend per active customer) and marketing funding requests to serve as critical inputs for pricing models.
Understand and incorporate prospects' key business objectives, strategic vision, and marketing calendars into the sales process to achieve set objectives.
Evolve Synchrony's storytelling in the business development process to align with roadmap capabilities and next-generation growth initiatives.
Partner with Platform CMOs, Marketing, Analytics, Consumer Engagement, and Brand teams to develop and own data-backed case studies, integrating business cases, branding, insights, digital customer experience, and ACE initiatives into cohesive go-to-market marketing pitches and deal materials.
Upon notification of program win, lead initial marketing program launch activities until the dedicated client team is hired and fully in place.
Serve as platform marketing subject matter expert (SME) in prospect working sessions to address marketing and growth-related questions.
Manage multiple business development deals concurrently, consistently delivering high-quality marketing materials and strategies within tight deadlines to support successful deal outcomes.
Represent and present Synchrony as needed in management presentation processes.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree; OR in lieu of degree, a minimum of 10 years of Business Development or Marketing experience in the financial services industry
8+ years of Client Marketing (B2B or B2B2C) or Business Development Marketing experience in the financial services industry
5+ years of experience to include:
Experience with marketing, organizational, and decision-making responsibilities
Understanding of business development processes
Cross functional team leadership experience
Desired Characteristics:
Advanced degree (MS, MBA) preferred.
Experience with PLCC, co-brand and installment lending across both digital and non-digital channels.
Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills with a proven ability to independently present and influence internal and external C-suite executives at the highest levels, demonstrating autonomy and confidence to manage multiple high-stakes meetings without close supervision.
Strong cross-functional aptitude across finance, technology, credit, marketing, and growth organizations, able to articulate Synchrony's differentiators holistically.
Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement actionable plans that drive measurable business results.
Skilled in strategic storytelling to craft compelling, differentiated narratives aligned with business goals and growth objectives.
Deep consumer finance and related industry experience, including value proposition development and new product innovation processes from ideation through go-to-market execution.
Direct marketing expertise spanning both acquisition and loyalty/lifecycle channels.
Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to evaluate complex situations using multiple information sources to make informed decisions.
Proven growth marketing leadership, combining analytical and creative skills with significant exposure to consumer-facing programs and products.
Outstanding written and oral presentation skills, confident in delivering messages effectively to diverse audiences.
Exceptional project and time management skills essential for success in a highly deadline-driven environment; skilled at managing multiple priorities effectively.
Positive energy and resilience with demonstrated ability to maintain focus and effectiveness while working through ambiguity, uncertainty, and deal losses.
Experience managing organizations and professionals, with a minimum of 3 years of managerial responsibility.
Collaborative working style and comfort operating within a matrixed, decentralized structure.
Proficiency in PC applications, including MS Office Suite or equivalent software.
Grade/Level: 14
The salary range for this position is 150, ,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
