We're partnered with a well-established name in the real estate sector to recruit a
Service Charge Accountant
, covering both commercial and residential portfolios. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative and high-performing team, taking full ownership of the service charge accounting process from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and timely service charge accounts, including full reviews of expenditure, variance analysis, and final reporting for Property Manager approval.
  • Identify and correct posting errors through journal entries, including accruals and prepayments, ensuring all adjustments are made in line with accounting deadlines.
  • Maintain the general ledger and carry out year-end reconciliations for the service charge function, ensuring issues are promptly resolved.
  • Produce detailed balancing schedules to accurately apportion service charge costs, taking into account tenant caps, income billed on account, and occupancy changes.
  • Liaise closely with Property Managers and internal stakeholders to ensure accounts are delivered with a high degree of accuracy and transparency.
  • Handle reconciliations and account closures related to property sales and acquisitions, including reviewing prior agent information and managing handovers in line with sales contracts.
  • Act as a key point of contact for service charge queries, supporting both clients and tenants by resolving issues efficiently and professionally.

What We're Looking For:

  • Prior experience in

    , with a strong understanding of
    Service Charge Accounting
    (essential).
  • Confidence managing the full service charge process accurately.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach to stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
