Team Size: Working collaboratively in a team of 3–4 staff members

About the Role:

Basecamp Childcare is launching a 6-week pilot after school programme (Basecamp Rainbow Club) designed to provide a safe, engaging, and supportive space for primary-aged children with complex SEND needs. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND specialist to join our team and help shape the success of this initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to children with complex needs, including non-verbal communication and their siblings.
  • Work collaboratively with a small team to deliver structured, sensory-friendly activities.
  • Foster a warm, inclusive environment that promotes emotional wellbeing and social development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and school staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of the pilot scheme and help inform future development.

Essential Requirements:

  • Extensive experience working with children with complex SEND needs, particularly non-verbal children.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive practices and sensory-based approaches.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A calm, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting children.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in SEND, childcare, or education.
  • Experience in after school or enrichment programmes.
