About Oliver Heer Ocean Racing

Oliver Heer Ocean Racing is a professional offshore IMOCA sailing team competing at the highest level of international ocean racing. The team combines performance, innovation, and a strong sustainability mindset, working closely with partners to deliver impact both on and off the water.

Soon to be based in Gosport, UK, the team operates in a fast‑paced, high‑performance environment with an international racing and partner calendar.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Partnerships & Marketing Manager
 to manage all relationships with commercial partners and to oversee and lead the
delivery of sponsor commitments, marketing, communications, content, and events
 for our IMOCA sailing campaign while steering the team's overall marketing and communications strategy.

This is a
hands-on, delivery-focused role
 that
includes sponsor acquisition
.

You will work closely with the skipper, management team, communications team and external suppliers to ensure partners receive maximum value and the team is consistently represented in a professional, compelling, and authentic way.

Key Responsibilities

Partnerships Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all partners and sponsors
  • Build, manage, and strengthen long‑term partner relationships
  • Ensure all partnership rights, deliverables, and contractual obligations are fulfilled
  • Plan and oversee sponsor activations, VIP experiences, race village events, sailing and hospitality
  • Prepare partnership proposals, presentations, and performance reports
  • Support the identification and development of new partnership opportunities

Strategy & Delivery

  • Oversee the team's marketing, communications and content strategy
  • Oversee digital, social, video, and long-form content aligned to the race calendar.
  • Manage messaging across digital platforms, media, and partner channels
  • Coordinate content creation with photographers, videographers, and designers
  • Oversee PR, including press releases, interviews, and media requests
  • Ensure brand consistency across all communication channels and materials
  • Support reputation and issue management when required

Operational & Event Support

  • Work closely with the sailing team and shore team to capture and communicate key moments
  • Attend races, training sessions, and partner events as required
  • Coordinate partner hosting and communications on site during events

Management

  • Lead and manage the
    events, communications, and content teams
    , including employees, freelancers, and agencies.
  • Coordinate with the race team to protect their priorities while ensuring sponsors receive appropriate access and exposure.
  • Manage budgets for marketing, communications, content production, and events.
  • Produce sponsor reports and internal dashboards to track delivery and performance.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong people management skills with experience leading small teams of specialists.

  • Proven experience in partnerships delivery, sponsorship, communications, and marketing

  • Strong relationship‑management and stakeholder‑engagement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects from start to finish
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; French and/or German language skills are a strong plus
  • Experience in sport, sailing, or high‑performance environments is an advantage
  • Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours around racing schedules
