The Role

As Technical Manager, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring that site operations meet the highest standards of food safety, quality, and compliance. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee technical systems, lead internal and external audits, and drive continuous improvement across quality and hygiene functions. This is a hands-on role offering real scope to influence quality performance and support the business in delivering safe, consistent, and compliant products to its customers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and develop site hygiene and internal audit programmes.
  • Act as HACCP Team Leader and ensure full compliance with food safety legislation.
  • Support and host external audits and customer visits.
  • Manage supplier approval and technical documentation systems.
  • Oversee laboratory operations, product testing, and analysis of results.
  • Maintain site accreditation standards and ensure customer codes of practice are met.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to production and quality teams.
  • Lead Quality KPI meetings and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Champion best practice in product quality, traceability, and process control.

Person Profile

  • Ideally possess a degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in a Technical or Quality leadership role within food manufacturing.
  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP, BRC, and food safety management systems.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
  • Highly organised, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passionate about product quality, safety, and delivering technical excellence.
  • A natural leader who thrives on developing people and improving processes.
