At The Leen, we're proud to run a progressive and well-established dairy farm with around 600 cows. We're committed to high standards of animal welfare, technical excellence, and creating a positive working environment for our team. We're looking for a dedicated Senior Herdsperson to join us and play a key role in the day-to-day care and management of our herd.

**The Role**

As Herdsperson, you'll be supporting the Dairy Manager in all aspects of herd and farm management. You'll help drive performance, maintain high welfare standards, and ensure smooth daily operations.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Help achieve physical and financial targets set by the Herd Manager and business.

  • Oversee daily herd welfare and contribute to the development of the dairy unit.

  • Maintain high standards in the milking parlour and equipment.

  • Ensure compliance with dairy farm assurance standards and internal KPIs.

  • Deliver excellent husbandry and monitor herd health.

  • Identify and report lameness and foot trimming needs.

  • Keep accurate and up-to-date herd records.

  • Follow milking protocols and rota schedules.

  • Support and implement feeding strategies in line with farm policies.

  • Assist with breeding programs and young stock rearing.

  • Monitor heifer growth and adjust nutrition as needed.

  • Measure and record grass growth using Agrinet when requested.

  • Help maintain a tidy and well-presented farm environment.

  • Communicate regularly with the Dairy Manager and farm office.

  • Participate in policy discussions and contribute to farm profitability.

  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with health and safety regulations.

  • Take part in training and attend relevant industry meetings and discussion groups.
