We're not a traditional workshop. We don't carry out MOTs or routine servicing. What we do is different, we specialise in repairing electric vehicle batteries and high-voltage components, finding solutions that extend the life of EVs and save customers money. It's a niche area, and we're proud to be leading the way.

Purpose of the Role

As a Senior Vehicle Technician at Cedar Electric, you'll lead the charge in identifying and resolving faults in EV battery systems and high-voltage components. Your expertise helps extend the life of electric vehicles through repair-first solutions, reducing environmental impact and saving customers from unnecessary costs. You'll be a key contributor to our technical leadership and innovation efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Diagnose faults in EV battery packs, power electronics, and high-voltage systems using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques
• Lead root cause analysis and support repair-first decision-making
• Collaborate with R&D to test, validate, and improve repair methods
• Stay current with emerging EV technologies and safety standards through CPD

Customer Impact

• Produce clear, accurate diagnostic reports to support customer communication
• Ensure repairs meet Cedar Electric's quality standards and reduce repeat faults

Team Collaboration

• Mentor colleagues working toward IMI Level 4 certification
• Share knowledge and contribute to internal repair manuals and training resources

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety protocols for high-voltage systems
• Complete required documentation and uphold Cedar Electric's H&S standards

Role in the Team

You'll work closely with our Head of R&D, Technicians, and Service Advisor to ensure smooth diagnostic handovers and repair execution. As a senior technical voice in the workshop, you'll help shape our repair-first approach and foster a collaborative, values-driven culture.

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

• Strong diagnostic experience with EVs or high-voltage systems
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and technical data
• A mindset of curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement

Desirable - (It will help if you already have some experience of the following, but don't let it put you off if not - we can teach you all of this)

• Experience with Tesla, BMW, or other high-voltage EV platforms
• Prior involvement in R&D or technical documentation
• IMI Level 4 Award in Diagnosis, Testing and Repair of Electric/Hybrid Vehicles and Components (we will support you in achieving this if you do not already possess it. Most of our tech's complete it whilst with us)
