Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.
We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space and rapid transport connections into the heart of the City.
Redbridge Youth Justice and Targeted Prevention Service (YJTPS) are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic qualified social worker to join our committed team.

The role involves working in a multi-agency service to plan and deliver services aimed at supporting children within the youth justice system to fulfil their potential and make positive contributions to society and promote a childhood removed from the justice system. The post holder will be required to carry out assessments, prepare reports and manage statutory Court Orders and Out of Court Disposals ensuring interventions are desistance focused while working to keep children and the community safe using the Redbridge policies and procedures to assist you. You will need to be creative in the way that you work with children and families facing complex challenges, engaging them to build on the positives whilst having a strong understanding of the impact of exploitation, trauma and adverse childhood experiences.

You will have excellent communication and assessment skills; the ability to implement intervention plans making best use of appropriate and targeted resources to deliver focussed outcomes; the organisational skills to undertake challenging work within tight deadlines, and maintain up-to-date records in line with National Standards; knowledge of both out of court disposals and court work and case management and the ability to work well under your own initiative and as part of a multi-agency Service. You will have an ability to interpret legislation and translate into practice, in addition to having an up-to-date knowledge of childcare & youth justice legislation

The nature of the role means that flexible hours are needed including occasional evening and weekend work to meet the needs of the children and families we work with, focusing on building positive professional working relationships to help facilitate and maintain change. The role will require you to embrace the Child First approach to develop children's pro-social identify for sustainable desistance, leading to safer communities and fewer victims.

We support Social Workers in their progression, affording opportunities to grow skill sets. Staff have regular supervision with their line manager, frequent professional development sessions and access to group or specialist supervisions for those complex cases discussions and reflection.

If you are interested in being part of a team delivering excellent services to young people in Redbridge, please apply.

Redbridge is committed to making safer recruitment decisions and to preventing unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. As such some posts may be subject to a check with the Disclosure and Barring Service. References may also be taken up prior to interview.

Embracing diversity and promoting equalities for all.

To apply for this post, you must submit an online application form along with uploading a copy of your CV and cover letter.
All short-listed applicants will need to demonstrate proof of right to work in the UK. At the London Borough of Redbridge, we receive a high volume of great-quality applicants, we therefore may close a vacancy earlier than advertised. Early applications are therefore encouraged.
We are committed to employment practices that promote diversity and inclusion in employment and welcome applications from qualified applicants regardless of age, disability, gender identity, sex, marriage and civil partnership status, pregnancy and maternity status, colour, race, religion, or belief.
