Enterprise Architect – Payments / Digital / Banking

Robert Half (an S&P 500 global staffing firm) is supporting a major consulting partner in sourcing senior Enterprise Architects to support a large-scale transformation across digital channels, UK payments, and credit-risk platforms. This work spans architecture strategy, domain road-mapping, complex regulatory design, and cross-platform integration. You will work directly with Chief Architect and C-suite stakeholders across a wide enterprise change agenda.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Strong background in enterprise architecture within banking is essential
  • UK Payments (BACS, CHAPS, FPS, card issuing/acquiring, tokenisation, EMVCo, 3DS)
  • Digital channels (mobile/web architecture, identity, OAuth2, OIDC, RBA)
  • Credit-risk architecture (decisioning engines, modelling platforms, governance)
  • Experience shaping architecture roadmaps, capability models and target-state domains
  • Demonstrable leadership across complex platform redesign, integration, and regulatory uplift
  • Proven ability to govern architectural standards, patterns and decision frameworks
  • Strong familiarity with tooling such as Abacus, Sparx EA or equivalent
  • Ability to collaborate with senior business, engineering and security stakeholders
  • Track record of completing contracts without jumping

Role Overview

In this assignment, you will join a high-performing architecture function to define and oversee domain strategy across payments, digital channels and risk. You will support the Chief Architect with target-state modelling, integration approaches, data and API governance, and alignment to regulatory and operational standards. This is not a hands-off role. You will bring senior architectural oversight, provide design assurance, challenge delivery teams appropriately, and ensure architectural coherence across multiple programme workstreams.
