As we scale production, diversify our product lines, and strengthen our national distribution, we are building a finance team that can support and accelerate this growth. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to join a business on the rise and play a meaningful part in shaping its future.

Role Overview

We are seeking a forward-thinking Accountant who wants more than a routine finance job. This role is ideal for someone eager to grow with the company, broaden their responsibilities, and eventually progress into senior finance leadership.

As a key member of our team, you will help refine our financial systems, support strategic decision-making, and influence processes across production, sales, and supply chain. You will join the company at an exciting stage of its development where your ideas, initiative, and ambition can genuinely make a difference.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements that support informed growth decisions.
  • Maintain and improve general ledger processes, journal entries, and reconciliations.
  • Monitor cash flow, financial risks, and investment opportunities as the business expands.
  • Produce management accounts with performance insights and improvement recommendations.

Costing & Inventory Control

  • Develop and enhance costing models across all areas of the business.
  • Analyse raw material costs, yields, and production efficiencies to support scaling operations.
  • Lead stock valuation projects as we grow our product range and storage capacity.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Oversee supplier and customer transaction flows to support increased production volumes.
  • Improve credit control processes and help shape policies for a growing customer base.

Compliance & Audit

  • Strengthen internal controls and compliance frameworks as the business grows.
  • Manage VAT returns, payroll journals, and statutory filings with increasing autonomy.
  • Build strong relationships with auditors and be the first point of contact for this.

Business Support & Growth Projects

  • Play an active role in budgeting, financial forecasting, and scenario modelling.
  • Contribute to strategic projects such as product development, equipment investment, and process automation.
  • Work closely with operations, sales, and procurement to align finance with business expansion goals.
  • Gain an understanding with a view to leading the R&D claim process.
  • Assist with Grant opportunities, applications and other administration.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Part-qualified or fully qualified AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience as an Accountant, ideally in manufacturing, FMCG, or the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting principles and VAT requirements.
  • Skilled with accounting software (e.g., Sage line 50) and Excel.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive mindset.
  • Ambition to grow, take on more responsibility, and develop professionally.

Desirable

  • Cost accounting or manufacturing finance experience.
  • Understanding of food and FMCG compliance standards.

What This Role Offers

  • Exceptional growth potential with opportunities to step into a Senior Accountant, Finance Manager, or Commercial Finance role as the business continues to expand.
  • Direct influence on building financial processes, reporting frameworks, and best practices.
  • A seat at the table in strategic discussions as the company scales operations and explores new product lines.
  • Professional development support, including study support and exposure to cross-functional projects.
  • A dynamic environment where your ideas are valued and implemented quickly.
  • Competitive salary and benefits, with room to grow as responsibilities increase.
