We are seeking a Director of Patient Care to provide caring and thoughtful leadership to our clinical teams, due to retirement of the existing post holder, for this much-loved and well-respected charity.

Weston Hospicecare is the major provider of specialist palliative care in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset and Sedgemoor, providing free of charge physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual care to local people with a life-limiting illness. As Director of Patient Care, you will provide visible, strategic and operational leadership for all our clinical services, ensuring safe, high quality and person-centred care, working alongside dedicated teams to deliver care that honours dignity, compassion and choice. You will be a key member of the hospice senior management team, shaping strategy and direction for the hospice, working collaboratively with trustees, staff and volunteers, attending board meetings, committee and management meetings on a regular basis.

We are looking for someone with:- Significant leadership experience in palliative care, hospice, or related healthcare settings.- Strong knowledge of CQC standards, clinical governance and GDPR.- A proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop multi-disciplinary teams.- The capability to develop, articulate and bring to life a clinical strategy.- Agility and empathy to move easily between the boardroom and front-line care.

  • The character and willing to serve as hospice Registered Manager and Caldicott Guardian.

  • Warmth, empathy and compassion alongside resilience and gravitas.

  • A professional healthcare registration (NMC, HCPC, GMC).

We will consider applications for anyone wishing to work between 30 – 37.5 hours per week over 4 – 5 days Monday to Friday.
