large, multi-site business with revenues of c.£500 million
, backed by a leading
private equity firm
. Following a period of rapid growth and operational expansion, the business is now entering a crucial phase focused on
commercial optimisation, performance improvement, and value creation
.

They are seeking an
experienced Interim Finance Director
to provide hands-on leadership, drive financial performance, and act as a
trusted liaison between the business and its private equity investors
.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the PE house, this role combines
strategic oversight, investor management, and commercial finance leadership
. You'll be responsible for ensuring that financial insight and governance directly enable the company's growth and investment goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the
    finance function
    across multiple sites and business units
  • Serve as the
    primary finance contact for private equity investors
    , providing clear, data-driven insight, board packs, and performance updates
  • Deliver
    robust financial planning, forecasting, and analysis
    to support strategic decision-making
  • Drive
    commercial initiatives
    – improving site-level profitability, pricing strategy, and operational efficiency
  • Oversee
    cash flow management, working capital, and capital allocation
  • Strengthen
    financial controls, systems, and reporting processes
    to ensure accuracy and transparency
  • Partner with the CEO and wider leadership team on
    growth strategy, M&A opportunities, and exit readiness

About You

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with extensive post-qualification experience
  • Proven background as a
    Finance Director or senior financial leader
    in a
    PE-backed business
  • Direct experience managing
    PE stakeholder communication and reporting
    is essential
  • Strong
    commercial and operational finance
    capability within a
    multi-site or complex organisation
    (retail, leisure, healthcare, B2B, or similar)
  • Highly analytical, hands-on, and comfortable in a fast-paced, performance-driven culture
  • Excellent communicator — confident engaging with investors, boards, and executive teams
  • Available immediately
    or within short notice
