Overview

Our client, a leading membership organisation within the charity and social impact sector, is seeking an accomplished
Finance, Transformation and Operations Director
to lead strategic and operational excellence across finance, governance, HR, IT, and business development.

This pivotal leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the financial and operational direction of an organisation that supports and empowers finance professionals across the not-for-profit sector. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving the organisation's flagship transformation initiative—helping to redefine the role of finance as a strategic driver of social impact.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Provide visionary leadership across finance and operations, contributing to long-term organisational strategy.
  • Support the Board and Co-CEOs in achieving strategic priorities and organisational growth.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Operational Oversight

  • Lead and manage teams across finance, governance, HR, IT, and business development.
  • Oversee financial planning, analysis, and reporting to ensure sustainable growth.
  • Ensure all systems, processes, and structures are robust, efficient, and future-focused.

Transformation and Integration

  • Embed the organisation's financial transformation framework across internal and external activities.
  • Collaborate with communications, learning, and membership teams to deliver training, events, and leadership programmes.
  • Lead cross-functional projects that enhance organisational performance and impact.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent the organisation to government, regulators, and sector bodies, influencing policy and best practice.
  • Build strong relationships with members, partners, and sector stakeholders.
  • Promote the organisation's mission and thought leadership through public speaking, media engagement, and strategic partnerships.

Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with senior leadership to ensure joined-up planning and delivery.
  • Foster a learning-oriented, innovative, and inclusive team culture.
  • Drive excellence in governance, compliance, and risk management.

Requirements

  • Proven senior leadership experience in finance, operations, or transformation within a charity, membership, or mission-driven organisation.
  • Strong strategic and financial acumen, with experience in governance, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive performance improvement.
  • Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • A collaborative, values-driven leadership style with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Commercial awareness and experience supporting income generation through partnerships or business development.
