Job Summary

We are looking for a highly organised and safety-focused lorry driver/compliance officer to join our team. In this role, you will ensure our drivers, vehicles, and operational sites meet the highest standards of compliance, safety, and professionalism. You will work closely with drivers, transport managers, and site management to uphold company and industry regulations.

Driver Compliance & Vehicle Standards

  • Lead driver, training, and inductions.
  • Ensure availability of spare tacho rolls and oversee weekly driver card downloads and weekly vehicle downloads.
  • Conduct lorry walk-around visual checks to a high standard.
  • Confirm wheel nut markers are in place and CheckedSafe is used correctly, including proper defect reporting.
  • Ensure windscreens remain clear of obstructions.
  • Enforce safety practices: engine off, keys removed and stored correctly, doors locked when unattended.
  • Ensure drivers wear seatbelts (except when reversing).
  • Check cycle safety stickers are visible on the rear left of the truck.
  • Complete and submit monthly compliance check sheets for all trucks.
  • Oversee use of the Hanson app and ensure any issues are reported.

PPE Compliance

  • Ensure drivers wear full PPE on site and when tipping off-site.
  • Monitor the condition of PPE and arrange replacements when needed.
  • Check safety glasses are scratch-free and hard hats are in date.
  • Maintain accurate records of all PPE issued to drivers.

Site Health & Safety

  • Promote and enforce all site Health & Safety standards.
  • Report safety concerns or non-conformities immediately to A&F.
  • Identify and highlight any non-conformances from drivers or sites.
  • Attend monthly H&S meetings with the Transport Manager and deputise when required.
  • Ensure site inductions are current and all new starters are recorded and inducted properly.

About You

  • Strong understanding of transport compliance and operator safety.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Confident in working with drivers, site staff, and management teams.
  • Proactive approach to safety, training, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and manage multiple tasks.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £35,000.00-£39,000.00 per year
