An opportunity has arisen to join WJ Products Ltd as a Materials Quality Technologist for undertaking quality control and related duties on manufactured hot applied or thermoplastic road marking products. WJ Products Ltd manufactures high-quality road marking materials for the highway construction and maintenance sector. We are the production arm of the WJ Group, the UK's leading contractor for road marking, surface treatment products and specialist services.

With sites near Milton Keynes and Bradford, our team provide full technical functions including support, in-situ testing, and monitoring for all WJ Contracting divisions and their clients.

This is a full-time and permanent position based at our offices near Milton Keynes working Monday - Friday.

Job Description

What will you do?

Based in our brand new, purpose-built laboratory your key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing quality control (QC) testing on manufactured products
  • Supporting product investigations and customer feedback processes
  • Supporting calibrating laboratory equipment and ensuring quality standards
  • Assisting in raw material evaluation and product development
  • Maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment
  • Ensuring all tasks are undertaken safely and in a timely manner
  • In addition, some participation in site visits may be required.

You will be part of a collaborative and friendly team where your input is valued. While some tasks are routine, you'll have the chance to contribute to product development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

What you will bring

  • Ideally, several years' laboratory experience in a materials field or similar discipline 
  • Preferably qualified to minimum of A level in chemistry and physics or to an equivalent standard
  • Sound technical aptitude and analytical skills
  • Well organised and methodical but with a creative and flexible approach
  • Capable of working on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Computer literate with excellent verbal and written skills
  • Full driving licence
