Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Work Location: From any Crystal Care Solutions home, or Head Office

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week generally Monday – Friday, 9am until 5pm, with weekends when required

Salary Range: £32,500 per annum

Crystal Care Solutions is seeking a skilled Maintenance Operative to join our team and help keep our services safe, functional, and welcoming for the children and young people we support.

Your Role

As a Maintenance Operative, you'll carry out general repairs and planned maintenance across a variety of our residential homes. From basic plumbing and carpentry to painting and decorating, your work will ensure that our environments remain safe, well-presented, and compliant with health and safety standards. You'll also be responsible for external grounds maintenance and regular building checks.

  • General maintenance and repair of buildings, fixtures, and fittings
  • Basic plumbing: taps, toilets, pipework
  • Carpentry: installing locks, assembling furniture, boxing in, and minor repairs
  • Tiling (floors and walls), painting and decorating
  • Routine electrical tasks (e.g. changing bulbs)
  • Identifying hazards or defects and carrying out necessary repairs
  • Maintaining accurate records of all work completed
  • Responding to urgent maintenance requests in a timely manner
  • Keeping company van and equipment clean and in good working condition

What we are looking for

Essential Criteria:

Proven experience in general maintenance and repairs

Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Comfortable using smartphones and email

Full UK Driving Licence

Basic literacy and numeracy skills

Commitment to health & safety and safeguarding policies

Desirable Criteria:

Knowledge of working in regulated settings such as children's homes

Trade specific qualifications
