Do you have the motivation and skills to support people with learning disabilities to live life to the full and could you help someone to be independent and take part in the things they want to do? If so, apply now
We're looking for people who can make a real difference to someone's life, attending to the small and personal details that really matter, every day. As a Support Worker you will encourage and enable adults with a learning disability by providing practical and compassionate support in all areas of daily living. Experience in care is not necessary, you just need to have the right values and a passion for supporting people to achieve greater independence. Your role may including supporting people out in the community, working alongside people to maintain and learn new skills, supporting with activities and providing personal care.
We are looking for relief support workers to cover for staff holidays and sickness, usually with notice but sometimes at short notice, for our services across East Sussex.
Our Supported Living Services are located in Ringmer, Crowborough, Hailsham, Eastbourne and Battle.
These posts are particularly suitable if you want to develop your social care experience and skills with plenty of flexibility - whether that's to study, fit in around family life, another job, returning to work after a break between jobs or just to get a 'foot in the door'. You may be asked to work on a pre-planned basis as well as covering for last minute absences within a service. It's entirely up to you whether you accept shifts.
We welcome applications from people 18+ years with an awareness and understanding of people with a learning disability and vulnerable people with support needs. This may be through life skills, or you may have social care experience. Although experience isn't needed, an awareness of what good support looks like is beneficial as it's your core values that interest us most about you. You must be a good communicator, have the ability to work on your own, sometimes in the Community and be able to interact positively and sensitively with people.
We can support you to learn the necessary skills, as you will receive excellent training opportunities, support and mentoring in your role. You will also benefit from a thorough induction and supervision as part of our commitment to you.
We are looking for candidates who:
Have a positive attitude towards the rights of people with learning disabilities
Have communication and organisational skills
Are self-motivated
Are able to meet the physical requirements to complete the role
Are committed to providing excellent support
Willing to undertake training required to complete the job role
