We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Interim SENCo to lead and oversee SEND provision across the primary phase of one of our well-resourced schools in Bristol. This role is central to ensuring pupils with additional needs particularly those with communication and interaction difficulties receive high-quality, targeted and timely support.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the strategic coordination of SEND, working closely with the school's Deputy SENCo, leadership team, teaching staff and external professionals. With regular access to Speech and Language Therapy and a strong range of intervention programmes already in place, this is an excellent opportunity to guide effective practice and strengthen outcomes for pupils with SEND.

This role also involves working directly with families, external agencies and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure every pupil receives coordinated, personalised support.

- Lead the identification, assessment and monitoring of pupils with SEND, with particular emphasis on communication and interaction needs.
- Oversee and contribute to the development of pupil support plans, provision maps and EHCP processes.
Work closely with the Deputy SENCo to evaluate existing interventions and ensure they remain effective and appropriate.
Collaborate with teachers to embed inclusive teaching strategies and support differentiation in the classroom.
Liaise regularly with Speech and Language Therapists and other external specialists to coordinate intervention pathways.
Provide support, guidance and professional development opportunities for staff to strengthen whole-school SEND understanding.
Build strong relationships with parents and carers, ensuring regular communication and involvement in decision-making.
Maintain accurate records, monitor progress data and contribute to school improvement priorities related to SEND.
Ensure that SEND provision is aligned with safeguarding, well-being and pastoral support frameworks.
