The Opportunities

We are seeking talented Senior Town Planners to join our UK team across a variety of roles. With offices across the UK we offer flexibility on which office you choose to work from on a hybrid basis

Across the UK we have a growing team of Infrastructure Planners within our national Town Planning business, who work with complex planning and consenting processes to enable the construction of major infrastructure projects. Our Infrastructure Planners draw on our expert knowledge and experience in various consenting regimes including Development Consent Orders, Transport and Works Act, Town and Country Planning Act and the Electricity Act to achieve the right consents for our clients and to unlock the delivery of major projects. Our Infrastructure Planners collaborate and mediate across a range of our experts including engineers, environmental teams and communication specialists, to lead the planning consenting process from feasibility, pre-application, examination and implementation phases.

As a Senior Infrastructure Planner you will be responsible for supporting the team leader and associates within the planning team on a diverse range of infrastructure projects. A senior planner will provide assistance with preparing consent applications, and often take responsibility for a specific aspect of a project (e.g. drafting a report and meeting with clients or key stakeholders) and for smaller projects will be responsible for the delivery of the project in accordance with a client's objectives and timescales.

Required skills and knowledge

  • Degree and/or masters in Town Planning and a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI).
  • Good knowledge of relevant planning legislation and planning policy.
  • Experience of producing outputs required to support infrastructure consenting or production of planning policy e.g. consents strategies, application documents, evidence base documents.
  • Experience of developing working relationships with town planners and other disciplines within an organisation and in external forums.
  • Ability to articulate complex issues concisely, write reports, present effectively, and manage client relationships.

For more senior roles, we also expect:

  • Proven project management skills with a successful record in planning and delivery of projects or tasks.
  • Commercial/financial management that can be applied to the profitable management of projects.
  • Experience of business development including successfully bidding for work.
