Purpose

We are looking for a
hands-on Head of Finance/Finance Director
to take full ownership of the finance function. You'll combine
strategic thinking with day-to-day involvement
, driving financial performance, managing operations, and delivering actionable insight.

You will lead
FP&A
, building and refining financial models and scenario planning tools to support business growth. You'll also manage
operational finance
(AP/AR, credit control, payroll), ensure robust
financial controls and reporting
, and work closely with the
Group Finance function
ensuring alignment on reporting, compliance, and integration of financial information across the wider organisation.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant with a strong commercial mindset, excellent Excel modelling skills, and a fun, enthusiastic personality who enjoys making an impact at all levels of the business.

It is an exciting stage of growth for the business and offers this role the chance to shape the finance function, influence strategy, and work closely with a passionate, ambitious leadership team as well as with a wider group finance function.

Responsibilities

  • Lead FP&A: develop and maintain financial models, budgets, forecasts, and scenario analyses that inform strategy and commercial decisions.
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and insightful financial reporting, working closely with the Group Finance function to ensure alignment.
  • Oversee operational finance including AP, AR, credit control, and payroll, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintain and improve financial controls, systems, and processes suitable for a PE-backed, trade-owned business.
  • Partner with the MD and senior leadership team, translating financial data into actionable business insights.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders including auditors, banks, and investors.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a talented, close-knit finance team of 5, fostering a high-performance, fun, and collaborative culture.
  • Support business transformation and change initiatives as the business evolves under new ownership.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Proven senior finance experience (FD, Head of Finance, or equivalent) in a growth-focused business, ideally PE-backed or trade-owned.
  • Strong FP&A experience, with advanced Excel modelling skills and the ability to translate numbers into commercial insight, and present outputs clearly.
  • Track record in financial control, reporting, and operational finance (AP/AR).
  • Comfortable collaborating with a Group Finance function to deliver accurate, and timely outputs.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, with the resilience to operate under pressure.
  • Commercially astute with the ability to link financial performance to business strategy.
  • Fun, enthusiastic, and engaging personality, able to inspire the finance team and wider business.
  • Hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
