About the Job (Hybrid with Travel)

NIDEC, headquartered in Milan with its centre of excellence near Saint-Étienne, France, is a company which designs, manufactures and installs Battery Energy Storage Systems. We have been active in the UK for the last fifty years and have a strong pipeline of BESS projects across the UK&I, Continental Europe, and the Nordics.

We are also active in other fields such as renewable energy, ventilation, steel industry, conveyer belts, paper mills, cement, oil & gas, etc. In all our areas of activity, we pay particular attention to the service life and performance of all our systems, in order to meet or exceed our customers' needs and expectations.

We are looking for top engineering talent to help NIDEC significantly expand our presence in the Great Britain energy market and to quickly gain market share.

Summary

We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic BESS engineer, to join us in spreading the power of NIDEC. In this role, you will report directly to the Sales Leader for BESS in North Europe and work alongside a team of BESS engineers who focus on understanding and meeting the business needs of our customers in key markets, such as the UK, Ireland, Finland, Sweden, Italy, France, and Germany.

What You'll Do

-      Analyze the request for quotation (RFQ) or public bid and develop the technical and economic proposal for turnkey solution of battery energy storage systems, photovoltaic power plant, micro-grid and/or PCS, PMS, and EMS supply

-      Prepare the sizing and technical configuration of the BESS, PV, micro-grid as best fit to RFQ or the bid, including preparation of SLD's and plant configuration.

-      Support the BESS team in the project execution

-      Provide technical support to the Sales team in customer contract negotiations

-      Liaise with Sales team to define value proposition in the Regions

-      Interact with corporate engineering, R&D, and purchasing department to evaluate cost and technology and to select partner and suppliers

-      Prepare technical documentation (datasheet, technical specification, products and EPC warranties) and the cost estimation for any project in the region

-      Support Deal Team with the definition of the scope of supply and contractual conditions (product warranty, system warranty, EPC performance warranty, project schedule warranty) to be included in the contracts.

What You'll Bring

Education:

-      Electrical Engineering, Design Engineering, or similar and related disciplines

Technical Know-How:

-      Knowledge of utility-scale renewable energies EPC projects

-      Knowledge Utilities, IPP, Developers, TSOs, DSOs, DoE, and DoD

-      Knowledge of UK market grid codes, energy and power intensive BESS application, PCS and Power Management System

Skills:

-      High level of commitment and responsiveness

-      Collaborative and can-do attitude in a team and external environment

-      Intellectual curiosity into commercial use cases of BESS

-      Excellent time management skills

-      Proficient in discussing technical requirements

-      Strong analytical ability

-      Proficiency with computer programs/software

The ideal applicants would have the legal right to work in the UK where the position is based, without the need for visa sponsorship to travel to the EU. We may offer visa sponsorship in exceptional cases. This position will require domestic UK and overseas travels within Europe for customer meetings and visits to NIDEC plants/branches involved in the BESS business.
