About the Opportunity

We are seeking an Automation QA Engineer to join our key client within the financial services sector. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on diverse projects within an established group, focusing primarily on test automation whilst maintaining the flexibility to perform manual testing where valuable.

Reporting to the Lead QA Engineer, you'll collaborate closely with development teams, product managers, and business stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Core Skills Required

Essential:

  • Automation of API endpoint tests using Playwright in C#, working from Swagger specifications
  • UI test automation expertise with Playwright in TypeScript
  • Proven ability to build, maintain, and enhance automation frameworks
  • Proficiency with Visual Studio and Azure DevOps pipelines
  • Strong understanding of software testing principles, QA methodologies, and SDLC
  • Capability to balance automation and manual testing approaches based on project requirements
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects effectively
  • Cross-browser testing of web applications
  • Version control using Git
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly

Highly Desirable:

  • API testing and integration testing background
  • SQL for database queries and data validation
  • Knowledge of BDD tools such as Specflow or Cucumber
  • Experience with test reporting and metrics
  • Familiarity with load/performance testing
  • Exposure to cloud environments (Azure, AWS)
  • Agile methodology experience (Scrum/Kanban)
  • Understanding of various testing types across the testing pyramid

Qualifications

  • ISTQB Foundation in Software Testing (or equivalent certification)
  • Relevant IT degree or equivalent practical experience

Key Responsibilities

You'll develop and maintain automation frameworks, integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, design and execute manual test cases where appropriate, and contribute to overall test strategies. The role involves defect management, maintaining test documentation, and participating actively in Agile ceremonies.
