Responsibilities
- Provide personal care services, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding as necessary
- Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects
- Support clients with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when required
- Implement care plans tailored to individual needs, ensuring adherence to medical recommendations
- Engage in behaviour management techniques to support clients with Alzheimer's or dementia
- Maintain accurate records of patient care activities and report any changes in condition to appropriate personnel
- Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe and clean environment
Skills
- Proficiency in first aid and CPR techniques
- Experience in nursing homes or care homes is highly desirable
- Knowledge of senior care practices, including Alzheimer's and dementia care
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols
- Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to patient care
- Ability to drive clients to appointments or social activities as needed
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Capability in case management to coordinate various aspects of patient care
- Competence in developing and following detailed care plans
