As Senior Accountancy Assistant, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality financial services. We're looking for someone proactive, detail-oriented, and ready to make a real impact. The Role

  • Coordinating and monitoring the Council's capital accounts and programme
  • Maintaining the capital asset register and calculating asset rentals
  • Advising on capital finance and accounting matters
  • Liaising with internal teams, external auditors, and valuers
  • Preparing and monitoring revenue budgets and final accounts
  • Leading on Section 106 records and IFRS16 lease accounting
  • Supporting capital bids and government returns
  • Deputising for the Group Accountant – Capital when needed

The Person

Essential:

  • Part-qualified CCAB or full AAT, or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 years' experience in capital accounting and budgeting within a local authority
  • Strong grasp of capital accounting regulations and financial systems
  • Proficient in Excel and Word
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator

Desirable:

  • Experience with capital appraisal techniques and alternative funding sources
  • Awareness of current developments in local government capital accounting
