Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Preclinical Imaging

Oxford OX, United Kingdom University of Oxford Full time £40,000 - £45,000 per year

This opportunity has arisen from The Wellcome Trust grant entitled "The glue that holds the pieces together": Unlocking Cognitive Health in Psychotic Disorders awarded to a team of investigators including Professors Jason Lerch, Esther Walton (University of Bath), Anthony Isles (Cardiff University), Neil Davies (UCL), Christian Gaser (Jena University), Joseph Hayes (UCL), and Ville Karhunen (University of Cambridge). This post will be based at the Oxford Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging (OxCIN), Oxford.

In this grant we will triangulate large-scale case-control data on developmentally informed measures of brain age with experimental neurodevelopmental mouse models of schizophrenia and prospective wide-spectrum proteomic data from individuals who later went on to develop a psychotic disorder. The post-holder will primarily work on the mouse models aspects of the overall project. In particular, she or he will 1) expand our current experimental mouse models of schizophrenia into a longitudinal developmental context (i.e. using repeated measures and brain imaging) and 2) achieve better translatability to human developmental trajectories.

The post holder will be a member of the Preclinical Imaging Group led by Jason Lerch. The post holder will also provide guidance to less experienced members of the research groups, including postdocs, research assistants, technicians, and PhD and project students. There will furthermore be ample opportunity to engage in research projects adjacent to the primary work described above.

Please see the below 'Job Description' for further details on the responsibilities and selection criteria, as well as further information about the university and how to apply.

The post is full time for a fixed term of 24 months in the first instance. Part time hours may be negotiated.

Only applications received by 12.00 midday on Monday 20th October will be considered.

Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
