About The Role:

Our Communications Division are currently recruiting for Trainee Structured Cabling Engineers, to learn and carry out the installation of Structured Cabling System, which are utilised for many Modern-Day Networked Technologies, including Networked Outlets, Telephony Outlets, IT Peripheral Devices, POE Security, Cameras, Wireless Access points, IPTV, Fibre Backbone Networks, PA & AV Installations.

Role Duties:

Working within various environments from a range of Education, Health, Financial, Construction, MOD and operational building environments, the Trainee Structured Cabling Engineers will:

  • Install complex cable plans for communication & networked systems, including the layout of structured cabling systems for equipment installations as well as expansions for existing networked systems.
  • Solve technical engineering problems relating to cable systems.
  • Install, terminate and test to a high-quality standard as per manufacturer's guidelines whilst always maintaining a high-quality performance of workmanship.
  • Gain knowledge on structured cabling within Copper (Cat 6/6A), Voice & Fibre Termination and Testing practices to manufacturers specification.
  • Work within various other types of cabling such as Security, Audio Visual, PA, Fibre Optic and Voice backbone, Network & Telephony requirements.
 
 As this is a traineeship, Trainee Structured Cabling Engineers can expect to achieve:
 
  • A NMW salary.
  • An NVQ Level 3 Qualification in Installation & Inspection of Structured Cabling Systems.
  • In house training on Installation practices and termination methods.
  • Health & Safety Training/Qualifications, on the dangers of working within the workplace.
  • A career pathway with progression.
 

Person Specification:

The Trainee Structured Cabling Engineer is an ideal role for a School or College leaver, who is looking to start a career within the Communications industry. To be successful in this role, candidates will:

  • Communicate effectively and appropriately whilst dealing with Clients and/or personnel at all levels.
  • Have excellent problem solving & trouble shooting skills.
  • Demonstrate the initiative in being proactive and creative for self-development within and outside of the company.
  • Be hardworking and self-motivated.
  • Be able to prioritise effectively and work to set timescales and within programme.
  • Work efficiently and have excellent attention to detail.
  • Work well with little supervision individually and within a team environment.
  • Have knowledge of basic computer skills and be able to demonstrate good writing skills.
  • Have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Have up to date knowledge on Modern Technology trends (desirable).
  • Be willing to obtain a driving licence within 2 years of obtaining employment.
