Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and professional Driver / Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering goods efficiently and safely, ensuring timely service to our clients. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Ensure all work in your department is carried out in line with SOPs and associated work instructions.

· Ensure all work and handling of pharmaceutical products adheres to MHRA rules and guidelines for Good Distribution Practice (GDP) at all times.

· Ensure your area is GDP compliant. Ensure no passageways and working areas are blocked or emergency escape routes are obstructed.

· Ownership of area supervised, being accountable and responsible for all work undertaken both individually and as part of the larger transport team.

· Manage the workload and effectiveness of your team.

· Ensure sufficient staff levels to ensure completion of workload.

· Aid in the recruitment of staff.

· Manage all holidays and absence.

· Aid in managing all disciplinary issues in line with Company procedures.

· Aid in the management of customer complaints.

· Ensure your team are trained in the SOPs designated as required by the RP for your team members.

· Adhere to all health and safety instructions and procedures and ensure the safety of yourself and any others affected by your work activities. This includes promoting a good health and safety culture with your team.

· Communicate effectively with your team and advise the Logistics Manager of any non-conforming work or problems.

· Aid with Non-Conformance reports and thoroughly investigate, establish root cause and put corrective/preventative actions in place.

· Manage performance of your team and work to help them achieve team goals and objectives set by the company.

· Attain a high level of accuracy in all forms of work.

· Strictly observe security access, restricted areas, assigned work areas, workflows and walkways, ensuring that all direct reports do the same,

· Ensure prompt timekeeping ensuring that you and your team are at the work area for the start of their shift

· Ensure wage information is accurate and forwarded to the Transport Manager in a timely manner.

· Ensure 'Return to Work after sickness absence interviews are carried out promptly and accurately and passed to HR.

· Responsible for getting the right products in the right quantities, to the right locations all at the right time.

· In charge of the day to day operations of the transport department in your area.

· Efficiently managing your team of drivers and vehicles.

· Responsible for all of the dispatching, routing, and tracking of delivery vehicles in your area.

· Managing, monitoring and developing your team of drivers.

· Being the first point of contact for all drivers in your area.

· Ensure all transport fleet vehicles of your team of drivers are properly maintained and serviced.

· Arranging for the induction and training off all new staff in your area.

· Maintaining accurate administrative records.

· Organising vehicle checks for vehicles operating from your depot.

· Identifying operational issues, potential problems and opportunities.

· Resolving and managing queries and complaints courteously and efficiently.

· Ensuring security of product is maintained at all times.

· Ensuring special transport conditions adhered to for special products.

· Ensure that spot checks are performed on vehicle temperature set points.

· Any other reasonable duties issued by the Logistics Manager.

  • Safely operate company vehicles, including flatbed lorries, in accordance with road safety regulations and company policies
  • Deliver goods to various locations promptly and accurately, ensuring all items are secure during transit
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issues promptly
  • Assist with loading and unloading cargo at warehouses or client sites
  • Maintain accurate delivery documentation and communicate effectively with dispatch teams
  • Follow all health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others
  • Adhere to scheduled routes and delivery times, demonstrating excellent organisational skills

Skills

  • Supervisor or Management roles for a minimum of two years
  • Excellent People Skills
  • Excel and word documents
  • Strong driving skills with a valid driver's licence and no more than 3 points
  • Experience with warehouse operations or logistics is advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrating organisation and time management skills
