An exciting opportunity has arisen at EKC Canterbury College for an inspiring Programme Director (Course Leader) in Functional Skills and GCSE Maths. This is a hands-on teaching role with real scope to shape and develop our growing maths curriculum.
In this role, you will:
- Teach, support and assess learners across Functional Skills and GCSE pathways.
- Design a relevant, ambitious curriculum that meets local and regional skills needs.
- Work closely with department leadership to drive outstanding student progression.
- Lead and coordinate your delivery team, ensuring students receive clear, up-to-date course information.
- Champion high standards across teaching, learning and assessment.

Hours per week: 18.5
Salary: £20,905 up to £22,055

You will be highly organised, creative, and capable of planning and delivering engaging, innovative lessons. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to assess, track and respond to student progress, ensuring every learner develops the skills they need to succeed.
You will be passionate about shaping students' future, providing academic leadership, guiding curriculum delivery, and ensuring all programmes meet accreditation requirements. Teaching and vocational experience are essential, and strong leadership skills will be a real advantage.
This role is an excellent step for a proven teacher or lecturer looking to progress, as you will oversee curriculum provision from the outset, build positive relationships with key stakeholders, and continue delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.

Programme Director roles have two salary scale points. All candidates start at the introductory point unless specific criteria are met. Progression to the higher point is possible after completing one full academic year in the role, subject to approval. Internal applicants may be eligible but should seek clarification.
