Job Summary:

We are seeking a friendly, outgoing, customer-focused Retail Assistant to join our dessert kiosk team at Metro Centre Mall in Gateshead. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a knack for engaging customers in a busy retail environment. As a Retail Assistant, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service, promoting our delicious dessert offerings, and ensuring the smooth operation of the kiosk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Greet customers warmly and assist them in selecting dessert items based on their preferences and dietary requirements.
  • Product Knowledge: Maintain in-depth knowledge of the menu, ingredients, and special promotions to inform and educate customers.
  • Sales: Upsell additional items, encourage repeat business, and strive to meet or exceed daily sales targets.
  • Order Taking & Payment Handling: Accurately process orders and handle cash, credit, and mobile payment transactions.
  • Kiosk Maintenance: Keep the dessert kiosk clean and organized, ensuring that all items are stocked and presented attractively.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to ensure efficient service, smooth operations, and effective communication during busy periods.
  • Inventory Management: Help with inventory checks, ensure the proper rotation of stock, and notify the supervisor when supplies are running low.
  • Health & Safety: Adhere to health and safety guidelines, including food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
  • Customer Feedback: Address customer concerns or complaints professionally and work to resolve any issues promptly.
  • Promotions & Marketing: Participate in promotional activities or campaigns and help attract new customers to the kiosk.
  • Dependability: Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in retail, customer service, or food service is a plus (Relevant training will be provided)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with customers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Basic math skills for handling cash and processing transactions.
  • Knowledge or interest in desserts, particularly those served at the kiosk.
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and a passion for providing excellent customer service.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift heavy stuff (e.g., for stock replenishment).
  • Comfortable working in a busy, customer-facing environment.
