Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Transportation Supervisor to join our team. This is a hands-on role that involves overseeing the day-to-day activities of the transport office, ensuring smooth, efficient, and compliant fleet operations. You will have to plan deliveries for our transport, utilise third party hauliers, creatively meet the ever-changing logistical challenges to balance customers expectations, maintain the fleet, and manage the drivers.

You will report directly to the Operations Manager, and develop strong relationships with other key departments.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily transportation activities to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Manage logistics, scheduling delivery routes for company fleet, and utilising third party carriers.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and customers to facilitate smooth supply chain processes.
  • Line Manage company drivers.
  • Handling incoming transport related enquiries (calls and emails)
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance and compliance with regulations.
  • Develop strategies for improving transportation efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Maintain accurate records of transportation activities and performance metrics.
  • Conduct driver briefs and debriefs
  • Manage tachograph compliance and monitor driver hours
  • Collaborate with other departments to align transportation goals with overall business objectives.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong geographical knowledge of UK transport routes and associated planning considerations
  • Sound understanding of HGV Drivers' Working Time Regulations and Driver CPC legislation
  • Proven experience supervising transport operations, ideally with curtain-sided Rigids
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills combined with logical problem-solving skills
  • Effective communicator with the ability to motivate and manage a team
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and capable of performing under pressure
