Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual for the role of Senior Greenkeeper to join and grow with the current Agronomy Team at Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Club. This position involves a variety of tasks related to landscape maintenance, construction, and horticulture. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience with hand and power tools, as well as machinery such as excavators. This role is essential in ensuring a high standard of product ,development of the Golf Complex inclusive of the Ben Sayers Designed 18 hole golf course .contributing to both aesthetic appeal and functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist /Support the general agronomy team with daily maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, and planting.
  • Operate on site plant and other machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • efficient management of on site irrigation systems as required assisting healthy plant growth.
  • Assist in construction projects related to landscaping, including the building of pathways, walls, or other structures.
  • Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively for various gardening tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members to execute landscaping designs and plans accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas to ensure safety and efficiency.

Skills

  • Strong background in turf management /maintenance with practical experience in day to day golf course operations/horticulture.
  • Proficient mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
  • Experience using variation of ride on and pedestrian implements such as shears, spades, and rakes, as well as power tools like lawnmowers and chainsaws.
  • Familiarity with operating excavators for various landscaping tasks.
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems installation and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about turf management/agronomy to develop their skills further while contributing positively to our projects.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From £28,000.00 per year
