Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in driving Enspec's sales pipeline by identifying, nurturing, and converting new business opportunities across the high-voltage power quality and renewable energy sectors. Acting as a bridge between junior sales support and strategic leadership, this role is ideal for an experienced and entrepreneurial sales professional with a strong customer focus, technical acumen, and a passion for sustainable growth. The successful candidate will combine commercial savvy with industry insight to build lasting client relationships, unlock value in emerging market segments, and contribute to Enspec's continued leadership in grid connection and compliance related technologies and services.
The Role
As demand for power quality and renewable energy solutions continues to grow, you will take ownership of outbound sales activity, from lead generation through to proposal and handover. You'll be proactive in engaging new clients, developing opportunities, and ensuring Enspec is front-of-mind in our target markets. Working closely with both the technical and leadership teams, you'll help position Enspec as a trusted partner and solutions provider.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Opportunity Development
- Generate, qualify, and nurture new business leads through proactive outreach, networking, and follow-up.
- Own and manage the full sales cycle — from initial contact to proposal development, negotiation, and close.
- Respond to inbound enquiries and convert them into opportunities aligned with Enspec's offerings.
- Maintain and grow a healthy pipeline of prospects across multiple sectors (utilities, renewables, industrial).
Client Relationship Management
- Build strong relationships with prospective and existing clients to understand their challenges and offer tailored solutions.
- Represent Enspec at exhibitions, conferences, and networking events, promoting our expertise and services.
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the Head of Business Development and technical teams to ensure client requirements are clearly understood and accurately quoted.
- Feed client insights, objections, and trends back into marketing and product development efforts.
- Help maintain accurate CRM records, including activity logs, forecasts, and key contacts.
Sales Support & Reporting
- Prepare and deliver presentations and proposals, ensuring both technical relevance and commercial viability.
- Track KPIs, report regularly on progress against sales targets, and contribute to team reviews and planning sessions.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience in a B2B technical sales or business development role, within in power, energy, or industrial sectors.
- Professional and effective communication and presentation skills
- Organised, commercially minded, and comfortable in achieving sales targets.
- Working knowledge of CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to travel across the UK to meet clients and attend events
