Job descriptionYou'll play a key role in enhancing the Nationwide's modelling of Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB), working closely with senior stakeholders including the director of financial planning & stress testing and treasury leadership. The role offers significant scope to influence and partner across finance functions within both Nationwide and Virgin Money brands, contributing to a high-profile transformation initiative.
You'll be joining a fast-paced and collaborative team of qualified accountants and system specialists, where technical depth and focus are valued.
This is an 18 month Fixed Term Contract opportunity.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon or Bournemouth office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
What you'll be doingYou'll lead the design and build of enhanced forecasting and IRRBB modelling capabilities within QRM, ensuring they are fit for purpose ahead of source system integration and scalable as systems evolve. This includes improving existing models for core products such as mortgages, savings and treasury, while developing new forecasting approaches for products like credit cards and current accounts.
Working closely with stakeholders across finance, you'll define and validate data requirements, ensuring new data sources are robust and accurate. You'll engage stakeholders through targeted workshops or working sessions to gather input and align on model build, and you'll document assumptions and design to support long-term usability and future development.
As reliance on QRM expands, you'll help strengthen the controls environment to maintain confidence in outputs used for planning, Asset and Liability Management (ALM), and regulatory reporting. You'll be a key contributor to the team's technical delivery, bringing a proactive and detail-oriented approach to a role that sits at the centre of a major transformation programme.
About youAs a minimum you will have:
- Experience in technically complex environments and enjoys building solutions that make a lasting impact
- Understanding of financial planning and risk modelling
- Confidence working with QRM, advanced Excel skills and experience working with large datasets
- Structured and analytical mindset to problem solving, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to managing competing priorities
- Senior stakeholder management experience across finance and treasury, and you know how to translate technical requirements into practical solutions that support decision-making
- Experience working in financial services, ideally within a financial planning and analysis team, financial modelling team, or asset and liability management
