Overview

Our client, a leading organisation in the aviation sector, is seeking a
Cyber Security Engineer – Network Security
to design, build, and maintain advanced technical security solutions that safeguard critical systems and data from evolving cyber threats.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work within a global enterprise environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop cutting-edge cyber capabilities aligned with business strategy and regulatory requirements. The position reports directly to the
Cyber Security Engineering Manager
.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and implement security tools and technologies to defend against cyber threats originating from diverse sources.
  • Develop and maintain a threat- and risk-led strategy to prioritise critical security activities and optimise operational effectiveness.
  • Conduct continuous assessments of existing technical environments to ensure ongoing protection and compliance.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of current and emerging attacker techniques, ensuring defensive capabilities remain relevant and effective.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between security initiatives and wider business objectives.
  • Monitor industry trends and evaluate new technologies for future adoption.
  • Create and maintain documentation, reference architectures, and best-practice security patterns.

Requirements

  • Strong technical security expertise, ideally gained in a large or complex organisation.
  • Proficiency in
    network security tools
    , including
    Cisco, Palo Alto, and Fortinet
    (essential).
  • Working knowledge of
    cloud environments
    such as
    AWS
    , with an understanding of network architectures.
  • Familiarity with additional tools such as
    Qualys, Akamai, or Valimail
    (desirable).
  • Competence in scripting or programming languages such as
    Terraform, Python, or KQL
    (or similar).
  • Experience applying
    NIST
    or equivalent security frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Recognised
    cyber security certifications
    (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise, manage multiple projects, and influence strategic outcomes.
