What can you expect?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our Patient Transport Service Control Room Team in the role of Controller/Planner at our Canvey Island, Essex base.

Working as a Controller/Planner, you will be responsible for planning and controlling the daily movement of medically eligible patient journeys to and from their healthcare appointments in our non-emergency ambulances.

The aim of this role is to ensure precise controlling and planning of the ambulances, to allow eligible patients to get to and from their appointments in a timely manner, whilst ensuring mobility requirements of the booked journey are met.

This is a full time (37.5 hours), permanent role working a 5-day week between the days of Monday – Sunday. You will be on a rota whereby shifts alternate, but will start no earlier than 05:30am and finish no later than 19:00pm.

Salary: £25,106 per annum

Main Duties involve:

· Planning and controlling the daily movement of ambulance journeys transporting eligible patients to and from their healthcare appointments.

· Allocating of physical resources and patient journeys using the Cleric System to our crew members and Volunteer Car Service workers.

· Liaising with healthcare professionals and hospital departments to ensure that we are able to maximise the utilisation of the available vehicles and staff.

· Building effective relationships with crews in order to ensure the best possible patient experience.

· To work within a team to make decisions about transportation which deliver the best outcomes for patients.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience of working in a similar transport control environment, using logistical and planning skills.
  • Ability to plan appropriate journey routes for drivers.
  • Problem solving ability for any challenges that may occur during day control.
  • Customer service focused and able to effectively handle sensitive situations.
  • Have a good geographic knowledge of the area.
  • Be able to stay calm under pressure.
