Data Cabling Surveyor, Reading

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Data Cabling Surveyor to join our team. This role requires extensive knowledge of network cabling infrastructure design principles and a thorough understanding of both containment design and installation design principles.

Key Responsibilities

Survey and Design

  • Conduct detailed surveys of network cabling infrastructure (copper and fibre) for existing and new installations.
  • Check route capacity, bend radius, and potential for future expansion.
  • Produce detailed documentation including Bill of Materials (BOM), rack layouts, High-Level Designs (HLD), Low-Level Designs (LLD), patching schedules, scope of works, schematics, and floor plans.
  • Ensure all designs are compliant with specific requirements, including JSP604 guidelines and the Engineering Change Request (ECR) procedure.

Commercial and Risk Management

  • Identify and call out risks and assumptions for each scope of work.
  • Ensure all surveys and quotes are commercially viable and align with Roc's risk profile under CDM regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project paperwork.

Delivery and Partner Collaboration

  • Deliver high-quality solutions and services, ensuring maximum client satisfaction.
  • Act as an escalation point for delivery issues, ensuring effective communication within the delivery team and with clients.
  • Work closely with facility managers and the Asbestos Focal Group to gather essential installation information.
  • Liaise with Roc's approved suppliers to verify current pricing against commercial requirements.
  • Collaborate with Roc's delivery manager and health and safety manager to ensure that all engineers are fully briefed, and all paperwork is completed before commencing work.
  • Assist in maintaining customer engagement and support pre-sales activities, including customer meetings, quotes, and proposals

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge:
  • Working in a customer-facing environment.
  • Strong communication skills, including coaching, presenting, technical and business writing.
  • Working knowledge of CDM regulations and the ability to plan installations in line with these requirements.

  • Knowledge of MOD infrastructure guidelines (JSP604) and experience with the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process.

  • Skills:

  • DV clearance required.
  • Confident in using CNCI or equivalent qualifications.
  • Competent with BTEC Level 3 in Telecommunications and City & Guilds in Telecommunications.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces and hold relevant certifications (PASMA, SSSTS, Streetworks).

  • Attributes:

  • Determined, highly organized, and methodical.
  • Logical and detail-oriented.
  • Self-directed and proactive, with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

  • Qualifications: CNIDP certification or similar is an advantage.
  • Experience: MOD SCIDA experience, particularly with ECR processes.
  • Additional Skills: Knowledge of commercial aspects related to survey and design in network cabling projects.
