About The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Waste Strategy Manager to lead the development and delivery of innovative waste management and street cleansing policies for Plymouth. This is a pivotal role, involved in aligning operational policies with evolving legislation, ensuring adherence to national guidelines, and meeting the Council's ambitious sustainability goals—including our commitment to Net Zero

What You'll Do
As a technical expert in waste management you'll provide strategic advice across waste collection and disposal, utilise key datasets to drive behavioural change and ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements. You'll work collaboratively across departments and help shape the future of waste services in the city.

Your Skills

  • Strong leadership and motivational skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Confidence in evaluating and working with large datasets

Your Experience

  • Proven experience in waste and recycling service delivery
  • Successful project management and stakeholder engagement
  • Developing strategies and business cases
  • Public engagement and behavioural change campaigns
  • Procurement and contract management
