Senior SEO Strategist

We're looking for a hands-on and ambitious
Senior SEO Strategist
with deep technical expertise to take a leading role in shaping and delivering SEO strategy across our full suite of services - from technical SEO to off-page (link building and Digital PR) and on-page (content and creative assets).

In this role, you'll guide and mentor SEO Specialists, while collaborating closely with Managers, Senior Managers, and Leads across SEO, Digital PR, and Paid Media. Your focus will be on driving strategic excellence, innovation, and measurable impact for our clients.

Success will require a strategic mindset grounded in technical depth. You'll play a key part in evolving our SEO offering alongside the SEO Lead, Digital PR Lead, and Head of Client Strategy, helping to push forward both client outcomes and the growth of our services.

The Role

• Contract: Permanent, full-time
• Salary: £37,000 - £44,000 (depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities
SEO Strategy & Technical Execution (60%)

• Define, own, and deliver advanced SEO strategies across technical, on-page, and off-page channels for a portfolio of clients, providing guidance and oversight to SEO Specialists in developing these strategies for their clients
• Audit client SEO activities, evaluate backlink profiles, and identify blockers such as crawlability or indexing issues.
• Conduct keyword research and competitor analysis to inform content and SEO strategies.
• Support Managers and SEO Executives in implementing strategies, ensuring campaigns are effective, innovative, and aligned with client goals.
• Monitor campaign performance and use insights to optimise strategies and drive measurable results.
• Provide strategic support to other service lines, particularly Digital PR, to achieve broader organic goals.
• Join client calls and meetings, delivering expert guidance and fostering confidence in SEO strategy.
• Act as a go-to technical expert within the agency, promoting a culture of excellence in SEO delivery.

Service Line Development & Market Growth (20%)

• Contribute to the evolution of the agency's SEO offering, identifying opportunities for new services or enhancements to existing ones.
• Support business development by providing strategic input for pitches and proposals.
• Explore and test innovative SEO, linking, and content strategies to drive competitive advantage.
• Collaborate with wider teams to integrate SEO insights into cross-channel campaigns.
• Proactively review workflows and processes, suggesting improvements and working with the SEO Lead to implement changes.

Team Management & Development (20%)

• Line-manage and mentor SEO Specialists, providing guidance, feedback, and support for professional growth.
• Ensure best practice across the team, promoting consistency, quality, and technical excellence.
• Support knowledge sharing and training initiatives, maintaining awareness of skills across the team.
• Continuously develop your own expertise through independent learning and industry events, and share insights with the team.

About You

• Recognised as a technical SEO expert, with a track record of designing and delivering complex, high-impact strategies across technical, on-page, and off-page channels.
• Highly analytical and data-driven, able to turn insights from audits, reporting, and analytics into clear, actionable strategies.
• Hands-on practitioner and strategic thinker: you can both implement technical fixes and guide the wider team to deliver excellence.
• Confident client-facing presence, capable of leading calls, presenting recommendations, and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
• Results-oriented and proactive, always seeking ways to optimise campaigns, innovate strategies, and drive measurable client growth.
• Experienced in fast-paced agency environments, able to mentor specialists and collaborate across cross-functional teams to elevate service delivery.
• Curious and forward-thinking, with a passion for staying ahead of SEO trends, tools, and industry developments.
