Hours: 39 hours per week, plus overtime as required during September and October

Foxes Farm Produce is a family-run business growing pumpkins for wholesale and running two well-loved pick-your-own pumpkin patches in Essex. Every autumn, thousands of families visit our farms, and we take real pride in offering a safe, well-presented, and enjoyable environment for everyone.

About the Role

We're looking for a practical, reliable person to lead projects and maintenance across our pumpkin farm at Bullbanks Farm. This hands-on, varied role suits someone skilled in groundworks, carpentry, or general construction who enjoys outdoor work and seeing the results of a good day's work. You'll help maintain and improve the site year-round and prepare for our busy pumpkin season — building displays, creating obstacles, and keeping the farm in great condition.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carrying out a wide range of farm and site maintenance tasks.
  • Groundworks: preparing bases, laying hardstanding, drainage, and levelling.
  • Fencing and gating: installing and maintaining fencing, posts, and barriers.
  • Concreting and basic brick/block work for farm buildings and display areas.
  • Carpentry: building and repairing displays, benches, signs, and structures.
  • Machinery operation: using tractors, telehandlers, or compact machinery (training can be provided).
  • Supporting the set-up and running of seasonal pumpkin patch events, including creative builds and signage.
  • Ensuring the site remains safe, tidy, and well-maintained throughout the year.
  • Taking ownership of small projects from start to finish, including basic planning and materials sourcing.

About You

  • Skilled/experienced in at least one of: groundworks, fencing, concreting, carpentry, or general maintenance (several is ideal).
  • Practical, steady, and dependable with good attention to detail.
  • Enjoys outdoor work and keeps a tidy site.
  • Can work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
  • Experience with tools and small plant (e.g. diggers, telehandlers, tractors) is desirable but not essential.
