Support Worker – Supported Housing (Full-Time, Birmingham)
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £11.00–£12.50 per hour (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm (No weekends)
About Us
Wardour Housing provides supported accommodation for adults on benefits, including refugees, asylum seekers, and individuals facing homelessness or mild mental health needs.
We work in partnership with leading housing associations to deliver high-quality accommodation and tailored weekly support to help residents achieve independence and stability.
The Role
We are looking for a Support Worker to join our growing Birmingham team.
You will manage a caseload of residents across several shared and studio properties, providing one-to-one support, ensuring compliance, and maintaining communication with housing associations and local councils.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of 20–25 residents, providing up to 1 hour of tailored support per week per resident.
- Keep detailed support notes and logs of all resident contact.
- Deliver weekly face-to-face support sessions and additional telephone support as needed.
- Assist residents with Housing Benefit and Universal Credit applications, including gathering documentation and submitting claims.
- Liaise with Birmingham City Council and housing associations (e.g., Dawson Housing) to chase up and resolve benefit payment issues.
- Support residents in adhering to licence agreements and property rules.
- Identify and report improvements or maintenance needs to management.
Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle (required).
- Minimum 1 year experience in a supported housing or social care environment.
- Experience working with vulnerable adults (e.g., refugees, asylum seekers or those with mild mental health needs).
- Confident using IT systems and mobile devices for recording support notes.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Enhanced DBS check (required or willingness to obtain).
- Must be able to reliably commute to or plan to relocate to Birmingham before starting work.
