What You'll Do

Customer Service

· Welcome and assist customers with a friendly, positive attitude

· Provide product knowledge and advice to help customers find what they need

· Promote special offers, upsell and cross-sell to enhance the shopping experience

Store Presentation

· Keep the store clean, tidy, and visually appealing at all times

· Ensure shelves are fully stocked and well organised

Cash Handling

· Operate the till with accuracy and efficiency

· Process cash and card transactions, providing correct change

· Follow company policies and procedures for handling payments

Loss Prevention

· Adhere to store security policies to prevent theft and minimise loss

· Report any suspicious behaviour or incidents to management

Teamwork & Reliability

· Arrive on time and be ready to work each shift

· Manage your time effectively to stay productive throughout the day

· Reliability, with a focus on punctuality and attention to detail

· Previous retail experience is a plus, but not essential—we provide training

About the Role

We're looking for a friendly and reliable Deli Assistant to join our team. In this role, you'll serve customers at the deli counter, prepare, cook and package fresh products, and make sure our displays are always clean, organised, and well-stocked. You'll play an important part in delivering high-quality food, great customer service, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

• Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner
• Offer knowledgeable recommendations on deli products
• Take special orders and prepare customised items
• Handle inquiries and resolve complaints quickly and politely

Food Preparation & Handling

• Slice, prepare, and package deli salads, sandwiches, and hot foods
• Maintain attractive, fully stocked displays and counters
• Correctly label products with prices, allergens, and storage instructions
• Monitor freshness and rotate stock, removing items nearing expiration
• Follow cooking instructions and check hot food temperatures to ensure food safety

Food Safety & Hygiene

• Adhere to all food safety and health regulations
• Keep work areas, counters, and equipment clean and sanitised
• Prevent cross-contamination by following strict hygiene practices

Store Support

• Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning and restocking
• Support the Deli Manager or Store Manager with additional tasks as needed

Skills & Qualities

• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
• Attention to detail, with a focus on quality and safety
• Experience in food handling or preparation is an advantage (training provided)
