Job DescriptionA great opportunity for well-qualified integrative psychotherapists and clinical/counselling psychologists with five years' experience (including in-training experience) to join our friendly Re…root team of Associates. You would provide individual therapy on a sessional basis. If you are also able to offer couple counselling that would be welcomed.
The Associate role involves working with Re…root clients
using an integrative or pluralistic approach including CBT/CBT-based mindfulness, or similar techniques to provide symptom relief
integrating the above with third wave psychodynamic work to address unhelpful repeating patterns
within a warm, relational approach.
This successful candidate will work closely with the Clinical Director who will oversee the allocation of clients to you. You will take full clinical responsibility and accountability for your clinical practice and managing your caseload.
You must be able to offer at least 10-12 hours a week (all sessions are 50 minutes long). Because peak client demand is in the evening we would need you to work on at least two weekday evenings, with some weekday morning availability too (particularly on two of the following mornings: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). There will be capacity to extend these hours after a settling in period, depending on your availability.
The fees we offer are competitive. The fee scale will be sent to you if you reach the preliminary interview stage (usually a phone interview). The quoted fees are after room costs, advertising and administrative costs have been covered.
QualificationsCriteria
a robust post-graduate qualification (usually 3 years' Master's) in psychological therapy.
- accreditation with BACP/ full registration with UKCP/, full registration with BPS/BABCP
5 years' experience as a psychological therapist working with individual adults (which may include relevant experience during therapy training). We welcome applicants who have experience as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in the NHS in primary care, or as a member of a charity-based service such as Mind, and preferably some knowledge of independent practice as well.
ability to work with a range of presenting issues including depression, anxiety, bullying, anger management, eating disorders, relational issues plus competence to work with those clients experiencing serious psychological disorders.
ability to combine symptom relief with third wave psychodynamic understanding of unhelpful patterns of relating/behaviour. (Applicants with an integrative training must have theoretical training and experience of putting together CBT and third wave psychodynamic approaches).
to be available for an agreed number of blocks of 3-4 hours including at least two evenings a week from 5-9pm and daytime blocks preferably on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning on a regular weekly basis.
to adhere to current BACP/UKCP/BPS/BABCP ethical guidelines and to know 's own written working practices including maintaining ethical boundaries.
to have a Enhanced DBS certificate (current or on application) and references from two therapy employers and a clinical supervisor(s).
to maintain up to date professional indemnity insurance to cover your self-employed client work as an Associate.
To attend regular clinical supervision in compliance with your authorising body for psychological therapy (BACP/UKCP/BPS/BABCP) requirements.
to be responsible for your own Professional Development maintenance
Commitment to ethical practice, equality, diversity and safeguarding.
To take responsibility for communications with third parties such as GPs, CPS.
To maintain appropriate records and to keep these secure.
To take payment from clients as necessary and handle and record these payments following Re…root procedures.
To manage your caseload of clients and communicate on a timely and regular basis with the office administrator so that your hours can be filled.
Working with
You will be based in our beautiful dedicated building in Richmond, where we will provide you with clients, an excellent room and a level of administrative support; clinical guidance and supervision are also available.
We generate client enquiries by effective online advertising and by reputation in the local area and beyond, where GPs, schools and former clients recommend us.
We would support you in your work by making sure you'll be right for our team, specifically: that you share our ethos and are able to offer the training and experience that our clients respond to most positively. We match each client to each Associate Therapist and we provide clinical and administrative support. This means we try to set you up so that you and your clients have the best chance of posiitive outcomes.
It's good to know that as an Associate you would have also the flexibility to adapt your knowhow to best meet the individual clinical needs of each client and for which you would be accountable
We provide in-house CPD 2-3 times a year.
