SLEEPOVERS ARE PAID @ £70.65 PER SLEEP OVER.
ADDITIONAL HOURS WITH OTHER CLIENTS AVAILABLE.
POST: Home Care Assistant
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Home Care Manager
Job purpose:
To provide a range of care and ancillary tasks in accordance with care policies, CQC standards and procedures. The care and support you provide may be undertaken in the service user's own home and/or local community. You will work in ways which are consistent with the key aims of maintaining dignity and human rights, as well as maximising the independence and potential of individual service users.
It is a clear expectation within Craven Homecare that the post-holder will develop and maintain knowledge and skills to meet the Care Certificate and Diploma in Health and Social Care competencies.
Main duties:Promote independence
- To provide a dignified, safe and stimulating service where service users are encouraged to exercise choice and to promote their independence.
- Ensure service users make best use of community facilities.
- Enable service users to access appropriate health care.
- Assist service users to manage their personal affairs and finances.
Personal care
- Assistance with personal cleanliness, for example, washing, bathing, showering, making sure water temperature is safe.
- Help maintain mobility with the use of appropriate moving and handling equipment.
- Going to the toilet, including helping with continence problems, emptying catheter bags, and emptying commodes.
- Washing hair, shaving, and cleaning teeth.
- Dressing and undressing, including help with support stockings, and any other medical aids used.
- Help prepare and serve meals.
- Assistance with feeding.
Household tasks
- General cleaning in areas used, for example kitchen, bathroom, toilet, living room and bedroom including making beds and changing bed linen.
- Carry out laundry tasks including ironing.
Medication
- Reminders to take medication or administer medication as dispensed by a qualified pharmacist.
- Assistance in requesting medications from GP and collecting medications from pharmacy.
- Report any concerns or problems to the GP or line manager.
Money
- To support service users in managing their money under very tightly controlled circumstances.
- Cashing pensions or allowances.
- Paying regular bills, for example rent, gas, and electricity, at the nearest post office, bank or public office.
- Carrying money for shopping.
Key worker:
- Undertake key worker role for one or more individual service users, as agreed with Manager.
- Contribute, as appropriate to the care planning process and service reviews.
Communication:
- Communicate effectively with service users and their carers, families and friends.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues
- Maintain written and other service user records, as appropriate.
Training and developing:
- Undertake required training and take responsibility for own learning and development in conjunction with Manager.
- Support colleagues with their learning and development, as appropriate.
Confidentiality:
- Respect and maintain service users' rights to privacy and confidentiality.
Infection control
- Follow Craven Homecare's policy and procedures on infection control
- Carry out training on regular basis on infection control
General:
- Undertake any other required duties commensurate with the post, subject to discussion with The Manager.

Ability to commute/relocate:
- Steeton BD20: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Application question(s):
- Will be able to cover Sleep Over support on a Sunday/Monday/Tuesday Night at the clients home for which £70.65 is paid for each sleepover. The client very rarely disturbs the sleepover person unless an absolute emergency.
