Job Summary:

We are looking for a dependable and caring Minibus Driver to safely transport children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to and from school. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safeguarding and a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a minibus to transport children with SEND between home and school.
  • Ensure the wellbeing, comfort, and safety of all passengers during the journey.
  • Work collaboratively with Passenger Assistants, parents, and school staff.
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any issues promptly.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies or incidents during transport.
  • Maintain accurate records as required (e.g., journey logs, incident reports).

Essential Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS Check – current or willing to obtain.
  • MiDAS Training (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) – completed or willing to undertake.
  • Minimum 3 years of driving experience – preferably with passenger vehicles.
  • Clean and valid UK driving licence (D1 category preferred or required depending on vehicle).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with children with SEND.
  • Knowledge of autism, ADHD, physical disabilities, and other SEND conditions.
  • First Aid certification.

Working Hours:

Typically, split shifts during school term times (e.g., mornings and afternoons). Flexibility may be required.

Job Types: Part-time, Zero hours contract

Pay: £12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 4 – 20 per week
