Job Summary:
We are looking for a dependable and caring Minibus Driver to safely transport children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to and from school. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safeguarding and a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a minibus to transport children with SEND between home and school.
- Ensure the wellbeing, comfort, and safety of all passengers during the journey.
- Work collaboratively with Passenger Assistants, parents, and school staff.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any issues promptly.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies or incidents during transport.
- Maintain accurate records as required (e.g., journey logs, incident reports).
Essential Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS Check – current or willing to obtain.
- MiDAS Training (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) – completed or willing to undertake.
- Minimum 3 years of driving experience – preferably with passenger vehicles.
- Clean and valid UK driving licence (D1 category preferred or required depending on vehicle).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
- Experience working with children with SEND.
- Knowledge of autism, ADHD, physical disabilities, and other SEND conditions.
- First Aid certification.
Working Hours:
Typically, split shifts during school term times (e.g., mornings and afternoons). Flexibility may be required.
Job Types: Part-time, Zero hours contract
Pay: £12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 4 – 20 per week
Work Location: In person
