The Leader of Learning – English plays a key role in delivering high-quality online teaching and supporting the continuous development of exceptional learning experiences across the English curriculum. Working remotely as part of Inspired Online Schools, the post-holder inspires students through purposeful subject knowledge, contributes to curriculum development, and promotes a positive, engaging learning climate.

The role involves staying informed on emerging pedagogy, supporting school self-evaluation, maintaining excellent professional standards, and ensuring all learners receive high-quality teaching, guidance, and support. This position is central to maintaining academic excellence, improving student outcomes, and shaping the future of English within a dynamic digital learning environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Inspire, motivate, and deliver purposeful English subject knowledge to students.
• Stay up to date with current research and pedagogical developments, sharing best practice within the learning community.
• Take a leading role in maintaining a positive, inspirational learning climate in English and supporting cross-curricular integration where appropriate.
• Support self-evaluation processes and contribute to school priorities for improvement.
• Model high standards of professional conduct and contribute to the development of a high-quality school environment.
• Promote the progress and wellbeing of students across classes and groups.
• Provide accurate and timely assessments, reports, references, and academic guidance.
• Participate in meetings, CPD activities, and professional learning opportunities.
• Undertake additional duties as directed by the line manager.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
• Understanding of the education sector and experience in a teaching or related professional role.
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
• A proactive, change-focused approach with a commitment to improvement.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, evolving online environment.
• Experience in the primary, secondary, or college sectors (state or independent).
• Experience in creating resources and enhancing course delivery.
• High level of digital competence and confidence teaching online using technology.
