Permanent

London / Hybrid

At QBE, our purpose is to enable a more resilient future.

We are an international insurer and reinsurer with a local presence in 27 countries.

The opportunity

We're excited to offer a newly created, full-time permanent opportunity as an Internal Audit Professional Practices Manager within our Internal Audit team, based in London.

This is a fantastic chance to join a high-performing function at the heart of the organisation, supporting strategic change and continuous improvement.

Your New Role

In this role, you'll play a key role in shaping how we deliver audit excellence across the Group. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Operations within our 77-strong Internal Audit team, you'll be responsible for maintaining and embedding our audit methodology, leading quality assurance reviews, and supporting innovation and transformation initiatives.

You'll work closely with colleagues across the function to ensure our practices remain aligned with IIA Standards and industry best practice, while also helping to modernise our approach through the use of emerging technologies.

Main responsibilities:

  • Own and maintain the Group Internal Audit (GIA) methodology in line with IIA Standards and best practice.

  • Promote consistent application of methodology through training, guidance, and communications.

  • Lead the quality assurance programme and periodic self-assessments.

  • Support innovation and continuous improvement across audit processes and tools.

  • Collaborate on strategic change initiatives and transformation projects.

About You

You'll bring a strong background in internal audit, with a deep understanding of audit methodologies and professional standards. Professionally qualified (e.g. CIA, ACA, ACCA), you'll be confident working independently with the ability to influence and drive change across the team.

Skills you'll need:

  • Strong internal audit experience, with a solid understanding of internal audit methodologies and best practices.

  • Deep knowledge of IIA Standards and other relevant frameworks (e.g. UK Internal Audit Code of Practice).

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to translate complex methodology into practical tools and templates.

  • Interest in exploiting technology to enhance efficiency and capability (e.g. data analytics, AI).

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven.

  • Collaborative mindset with a continuous improvement focus.

Additional skills (nice to have):

  • Comfortable working with audit software (ideally Teammate+).

  • Experience delivering training and guidance to audit teams.

  • Experience leading or contributing to quality assurance reviews.
