Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, a Director Analyst plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative research which Gartner clients consume and apply to propel their business toward key objectives.

The Director Analyst of Internal Audit is a trusted source of advice for clients, discussing complex client challenges and offering appropriate recommendations. You will reinforce Gartner's value daily by engaging clients via 1:1 virtual meeting, sales support visits and our practice's conferences. This role includes both writing and speaking about best practices in Audit Planning and Risk. The Director Analyst of Internal Audit will also lead internal research discussions among fellow analysts and collaborate with analysts across Gartner's Assurance Practice.

You have experience in performing operational and IT audits. You also have experience leading the teams that perform those audits, developing training and communications for those teams and communicating with both executive and business stakeholders.

You're a confident presenter with a strong executive presence. Your analytical thinking allows you to quickly process information and make actionable recommendations.

What you will do:

  • Create high-quality, clear, actionable, "must-have research" content in Audit Planning and Risk. Specific focus areas will include Risk assessment and audit planning, risk trends and audit response, aligned assurance, and IT Audit.
  • Research, analyze and predict internal audit trends and shifts and provide clients with actionable insights.
  • Conduct research and analysis in audit program management and produce innovative, thought-leading, impactful, analytically deep, fact-based research.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to de-construct and frame challenging client questions.
  • Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice via virtual or face-to-face interactions.
  • Create and deliver presentation materials for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings.
  • Actively participate in innovation, ideation and research efforts to discuss research issues; Collaborate effectively with peers in the Assurance research community.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Internal audit experience.
  • Applicable experience and deep knowledge of the internal audit leader (or Chief Audit Executive) role as well as an industry perspective.
  • Exposure to or working knowledge of common technology solutions utilized by internal audit leaders, such as audit management software tools.
  • Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions.
  • Demonstrate superior analytical skills while applying conceptual models and recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions.
  • Strong organizational skills: ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders.
