Opportunity Overview:
A fantastic opportunity has risen to temporarily join my client as an Operations Analyst.

My client is a leading global financial services firm providing a wide range of investment banking, securities, investment management and wealth management services. The Firm's employees serve clients worldwide including corporations, governments, and individuals from more than 1,200 offices in 43 countries

Role Objective:
The Fixed Income Financing Operations department is responsible for supporting the trading activities of the bond borrow and repo desks, with teams in 7 global locations comprising over 60 employees. The team have daily interaction with the trading desk and are required to liaise with operational colleagues across a range of disciplines to ensure the timely and accurate execution and collateralisation of trades, providing an opportunity to develop a strong network across firm. The EMEA Fixed Income Financing Operations department, based in Glasgow and Bangalore, is currently made up of 30+ employees and is responsible for supporting the trading activities of the Bond Borrow and Secured Funding business units. Part of the teams' responsibilities within the Middle Office is to ensure complete and accurate reporting of the firms Secured Financing Transaction Regulation (SFTR) transaction reporting requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participating in project readiness tasks to ensure the firm is able to meet its ongoing transaction reporting obligations.
  • Overseeing controls to ensure the complete, accurate and timely submission of transaction reporting requirements
  • Monitoring and resolving transaction reporting exceptions through working closely with other internal and external stakeholders including the Business Unit, Security Settlements and Corporate Actions teams, among others.
  • Provide subject matter expertise when working alongside the trade desk and colleagues across Operations when determining the reporting impact to new business and product initiatives
  • Monitor trends in reporting exceptions in order to identify root cause and resolve exceptions at source
  • Monitor KRI and KPI thresholds to ensure the team is maintaining risk and performance standards
  • Ensure all Written Supervisory Procedures, Process Maps and System access requirements are up to date
  • Involvement in BCP transference testing and ensuring knowledge dilution in Glasgow and Bangalore is minimized
  • Working with key stakeholders to identify and create efficiencies in daily processes
  • Provide operations support for IT developments

Requirements:

  • 3 years + experience in Ops, Investment, Projects or Change Management
  • Run the Bank or Change the Bank experience preferred
  • Middle Office is a busy role therefore essential the successful candidate can add immediate benefit
  • Previous experience of Securities Financing industry is not essential but preferred though experience in investment operations will provide a solid foundation upon which to learn the required skills in order to be successful
  • The role will provide a number of opportunities to work stakeholders across the organisation so a proven track record in relationship management is required as is experience of managing process, risk and controls.
  • A good aptitude for working in a demanding, fast paced environment
  • An ability to handle high volume workloads and prioritisation skills
  • A good approach to change management on account of the teams continual growth and development
  • Strong communication skills as you will be expected to develop relationships with the Business Unit, internal stakeholders & the Vendor
  • An understanding of escalation
  • An ability to handle working in a pressurised environment and a desire to question existing procedures and continually seek to improve processes.
