An exciting opportunity has arisen within us for a Packaging Specification Technologist to join the team in ASDA House based in Leeds. This position is well suited to an individual who would enjoy working with a small team of experts, and who thrives working with technical packaging data.

3 Days a week in the ADSA House office including Monday and Friday. 2 days a week working from home.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • This position is an SME role with the responsibility for data governance, assurance and validation of all Asda's Food and Non-Edible Grocery packaging specifications.
  • Responsible for ensuring that packaging specifications are 100% completed and approved in line with all key project milestones, working to resolve queries and escalating issues quickly to the Packaging and Print Manager.
  • Provides a comprehensive and professional approach to maintaining data quality and improving accuracy of technical information.
  • Liaises effectively with the wider Asda Packaging and Print Team, external suppliers as well as the Product development teams as necessary to ensure correct information.
  • Performs data validation check/audits as required to ensure accuracy (e.g. component weighing, spot checks, RAM data checks).
  • Use Hive packaging information and reports to provide expert advice to the team on key areas for sustainable development and improvements.

Key Requirements:

  • A broad understanding of Packaging Materials used in the manufacture of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Packaging across a broad spectrum of Product categories.
  • An understanding of sustainability principles for packaging as well as EPR legislation, RAM as well as excellent knowledge of OPRL principles would be ideal for this role.
  • Microsoft Office Skills (particularly Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook)
  • Strong organisation and project management skills.
  • A proactive approach to work and excellent attention to detail are essential in this role.
  • Packaging auditing experience is an advantage.
