You'll be joining a small team of experienced developers who will support and mentor you as you grow, giving you a strong start to your software development career.

About the role

As a junior developer at Twilltac you'll be building industry leading web applications for both business and consumer users. You'll learn techniques and ways of working to enable you to build and deliver high quality working software fast.

Typically you will be writing code for our web applications, but at a startup the work can be varied, so you'll get the opportunity to experience lots of adjacent skills such as design, infrastructure, product direction, local developer tooling, marketing materials, email content etc.

We operate in a supportive, no blame environment, we're always making mistakes and learning from them.

Work hours and Remote Work

We typically work 09:30 to 17:30, Monday to Friday with 30 minutes for lunch. We're currently in a move-fast, startup phase so expect people to be in the office Monday to Thursday and we work asynchronously remotely on Fridays (whatever hours suit you). We believe there is real value working together in the same location, collaborating on ideas, faster feedback, hearing and seeing what's going on in the business.  

It's a relaxed working environment, so irregular appointments, such as haircuts, car servicing, dentist, doctors etc we're happy for you to just take when convenient, just let the team know you'll be out, starting late, finishing early etc, no need to book holiday.

About you

Take initiative

• You will be happy to have a go, take a best guess and even fail, rather than waiting for perfect information
• You won't need to wait to be assigned a task, you will be able to judge when it makes sense to start something
• You won't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone

Read, write and navigate a basic frontend project

• You should be able to read and write templated HTML
• Have a basic understanding of page layout, blocks, flex, grid etc.
• Be able to find how pages, components and classes are used
• Ideally have some experience of interacting and displaying data from APIs

Strong communication skills 

• Comfortable asking questions
• Able to communicate your current understanding and talk through your approach to problems

Past projects and Experience 

• We're looking for someone with a proven passion for software development, so we'd expect a portfolio of personal projects that you wrote and are comfortable to talk us through the code
• Projects can be anything from websites, apps, games to home automation etc

• £30,000 annual salary, reviewed annually

After that, you'll be invited to a face-to-face interview, which includes a short live coding exercise.
